Accessibility statement

Last updated: 18 June 2026

gov.online is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, regardless of ability or technology. This statement explains how accessible the service is and how to report any problem you find.

The standard we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA. This is the standard recommended for public-facing services.

What we have done

  • Every page can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, and includes a “Skip to content” link.
  • Text resizes and reflows down to a 320 px-wide screen without loss of content or function.
  • Colour is never the only way information is conveyed, and we aim for AA contrast on body text.
  • Forms have visible labels, clear error messages, and the input you need is described before you start.
  • The site is available in 12 languages, selectable from the header and footer.
  • Images that carry meaning have text alternatives; decorative artwork is hidden from screen readers.

Known limitations

Accessibility is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time fix. Some third-party components (such as the payment provider’s secure page) are outside our direct control. Where we find a barrier we cannot remove immediately, we provide an alternative — you can always complete or check an application by emailing us.

Report an accessibility problem

If you cannot use part of this website, or you need information in a different format, email [email protected]. Tell us the page, what went wrong, and the assistive technology you use. We aim to reply within two working days and will help you finish what you came to do.
